A Month Worth Blogging about...at the end of it!

You may be wondering where we have disappeared to over the past month...well, a lot has been going on around here.

In addition to the usual ways to keep busy with a one-year old, Justin started a new job. His old company, Litrex is moving all of their operations to Japan and Justin was lucky enough to find a new job in Livermore. Of course, the new job keeps him busy.

During the first week of his new job Gianna got her finger smashed in a door and needed 5 stitches. It was probably broken, but it isn't common practice to x-ray baby's hands because it can't be splinted anyway. She did it because she was being her wild self and trying to push open a door with one of those mechanisms on it that makes it close slowly. Of course she did it just as the door was closing and Mom was only a few feet away, but just out of reach. Gianna was so strong in the emergency room and once Daddy arrived with books she stopped crying and was a very good girl.

Since then we've been so busy taking care of the finger and had lots of Dr.'s appointments concerning it. Her skin healed too quickly and the stitches (which were supposed to dissolve) got stuck in, so we had to see a specialist for that. It is healing well now and she just got the okay to stop wearing her big bandage, which is a relief for mom (who is glad to not have to dress her hand every night).

Most recently, Gianna got a horrible stomach bug that caused her to lose 3 of her 21 pounds. She didn't eat for about 4 days and had a high fever, along with all of the other symptoms of stomach flu. The worst part of this was watching her feel miserable and not talk or act herself from Thursday through Tuesday. She also forgot how to walk so we are having to teach that to her too. She's doing a little better, but still recovering and she is so skinny.

Yesterday Justin came down with the bug and needed to get an IV because he got so dehydrated. He is at home recovering now.

Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive and helpful (especially Jenny and our parents).

We'll post some pictures once everyone is feeling better.

Oh yeah, our cat got sprayed by a skunk last night too. Does anyone know the best way to get skunk stink out of a long hair cat who hates baths?

Thanks for being so patient with our non-blogging, and we hope everyone is well!
